UN System Framework for Action on Equality

Rising inequalities across the world have become a defining challenge of our time. Unless we take action to reverse this trend, inequalities will further deepen divides, stirring social unrest, undermining social progress and threatening political and economic stability. This could imperil all pillars of the work of the United Nations from development to human rights to peace and security. Development will only be sustainable if it is also more equitable. Joint action is needed now.

Transitioning from the MDGs to the SDGs

This report synthesizes the main lessons learned from the MDG Reviews conducted by the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) between April 2013 and November 2015. The exercise, which brought together United Nations and World Bank Group staff, summarized the country situation, identified bottlenecks to attainment, and suggested potential solutions in 16 countries and 1 subregion. Many of the observations and proposed solutions could prove useful in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

How the UN System Supports Ambitious Action on Climate Change

This brochure, jointly written and produced by the nearly 40 UN specialized agencies, funds, programmes and other bodies that coordinate their respective activities on climate change through the HLCP Working Group on Climate Change, provides examples of how the diverse entities of the UN system work together and with partners to support ambitious action on climate change.

International Migration and Development: Contributions and Recommendations of the International System

This book showcases the mandates and work of 28 UN organizations and related international entities engaged with international migration issues.  It offers unique insights into the growing coherence of action among these key players and includes a set of recommendations and outcomes for the 2013 High-Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development.

CEB Issue Paper: The Global Financial Crisis and its Impact on the Work of the UN System

At its meeting in Geneva on 26-27 February 2009, the HLCP discussed extensively a preliminary version of this paper, submitted by the Chair, on the basis of a very rich set of contributions by all agencies. The CEB Paris meeting resulted in a robust exchange of views during which CEB members endorsed the course of action proposed by the HLCP and supported the various initiatives for joint action contained in the Issue Paper prepared by the Chair of the HLCP.

Acting on Climate Change: The UN Delivering as One

Under the leadership of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) has initiated a process of aligning its strengths to achieve a coordinated action-oriented approach to the global and multifaceted challenge of climate change. One United Nations: Catalyst for Progress and Change

CEB’s contribution to the preparatory process of the 2005 World Summit culminated in the publication of "One United Nations: Catalyst for Progress and Change — How the Millennium Declaration is Changing the Way the United Nations System Works", which was launched at the July 2005 session of the Economic and Social Council and was commended by the President of the Economic and Social Council to the Summit.
