DTN Guidance on the Use of Generative AI Tools in the UN System

One of the conclusions of DTN’s 2023 spring session (IMF, Washington D.C.) was to swiftly provide organizations with coherent guidance on the use of Generative AI (GAI).

On 6 July 2023, DTN met virtually to discuss and finalize DTN draft guidance (circulated in advance), as well as to establish a UNICC hosted GAI Hub and a GAI community of practice. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Bernardo Mariano Junior (CITO, UN Secretariat) and Ms. Shirin Hamid (CIO, IMF). 

Many of the suggestions that emerged during the plenary session, reflecting diverse viewpoints, were incorporated. In total, 93 representatives of the DTN (CIO) and CDO communities attended the three-hour virtual session, which concluded with finalized guidance and an update from the UN Digital ID Project.
