A Unified United Nations Response to the Global Food Price Challenge

In response to the growing food crisis, the United Nations Chief Executives Board for Coordination issued a Press Communiqué on “A unified United Nations response to the global food price challenge” in April 2008. The Communiqué was developed through the High-level Committee on Programmes and establishes a common strategy to support member states in confronting the global food crisis. The Communiqué also established, under the leadership of the Secretary-General, a task force on the global food crises bringing together the heads of UN Specialized Agencies, Funds and Programmes, international financial institutions, and relevant parts of the UN Secretariat.
