At its 51st session in April 2026, the High-Level Committee on Management (HLCM) endorsed the establishment of a United Nations System Insurance Forum (UNSIF).
UNSIF has been established as a practical, operational, lean and voluntary platform among peers to strengthen cooperation, align Organizational strategy and share best practices on insurance operations, risk transfer, claims management, and related, in order to fully empower the United Nations system to operate more efficiently and cohesively as One UN.
UNSIF is structured in two parallel streams, by type of insurance:
- Corporate Insurance Stream for corporate and organizational risks including commercial insurance lines such as property, liability, financial, travel, cargo, etc.
- Life & Health Stream for regarding personnel (staff and non-staff categories) risks such as medical and health insurance, life insurance, compensation plans, etc.
The intent of UNSIF is to be the platform for coordination of insurance expertise and initiatives, including the Far-Reaching Efficiency Initiative (FREI) P5 – Common Insurance Services.
The Statutes of the United Nations System Insurance Forum are published below, together with a table summarizing its structure and organs.
