Building back fairer: Equality in a post-COVID world

Virtual side event to the 2021 HLPF organized by the Inequalities Task Team of the High-level Committee on Programmes

In the wake of entrenched inequalities revealed and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Inequalities Task Team (ITT) of the High-level Committee of Programmes (HLCP) held a virtual side event at the 2021 ECOSOC High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on “building back fairer: equality in a post-COVID world" on Thursday, 8 July 2021, from 1.15 to 2.45 PM (EDT). Experts examined the threats posed to our societies, economies and our human rights by the current situation and discussed how this could be a critical inflection point for creating more equal, inclusive and sustainable economies and societies. (See the event summary.)

  • Isabel Ortiz, Director of the Global Social Justice Program at the Initiative for Policy Dialogue at Columbia University

Moderated by Ignacio Saiz, Executive Director of the Center for Economic and Social Rights.
