United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy
The United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy 2.0 (UNDIS 2.) aims for more effective and consistent delivery of disability‑inclusive results across the pillars of the United Nations by mainstreaming disability inclusion across all UN policies, operations and programmes and implementing targeted measures to address barriers and advance equality and inclusion of persons with disabilities. It brings together a system-wide policy and an accountability framework for UN system entities and country teams, structured around five strategic priorities: leadership; inclusive programming and results; accessible organization; enabling work environment and inclusive workforce; and partnerships.
UNDIS 2.0 seeks to strengthen the UN system’s institutional capacity to ensure that entities are accessible, inclusive, and deliver evidence-driven policies and programming to support Member States’ implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. A review of UNDIS 2.0 implementation will be conducted in 2030, to assess progress and address potential gaps.
In May 2026, CEB endorsed UNDIS 2.0, following an extensive consultation process and the approval of the strategy by HLCP and HLCM.
Periodic progress report on UNDIS implementation will be submitted to HLCP and HLCM for their review, in the context of their respective mandates.
