CEB member organizations were actively engaged in the consultative process to prepare the 2007 triennial comprehensive policy review of operational activities of the United Nations development system. The Department of Economic and Social Affairs prepared two reports of the Secretary-General to facilitate deliberations by Member States: (a) an analytical report on the implementation of resolution 59/250 (A/62/73-E/2007/52); and (b) a report with conclusions and recommendations (A/62/253).

CEB: Operational issues 23.02.2017
The CEB session in Bern, Switzerland, on 28-29 April 2008 marked the first Board meeting with the United Nations Development Group formally reporting as part of the CEB structure. The Board acknowledged with appreciation the progress that had been made in operationalizing the integration of the Group as a third pillar of the CEB framework.
CEB: Introduction 23.02.2017
The 2007/08 reporting period marked several important events that have contributed to the continuous efforts of the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) to further coordination and cooperation among United Nations system organizations on a wide range of programme, management and operational issues. The increasingly vocal calls from the international community for a more effective, coherent and better performing United Nations elevated the Chief Executives Board to new prominence in intergovernmental debates.
Update on the implementation of the management and accountability system, including on the comprehensive review 23.02.2017
As agreed in the road map for the implementation of the management and accountability system of the United Nations Development Group and resident coordinator system, the Group commissioned a review in 2010 to assess progress made and identify gaps in its implementation. The review, which is expected to be completed in mid-2011, will result in a set of recommendations for the way forward to ensure full implementation of the system.
CEB: Quadrennial comprehensive policy review of United Nations operational activities for development 23.02.2017
In preparation of General Assembly resolution 67/226 on the quadrennial comprehensive policy review of United Nations operational activities for development, the United Nations Development Group worked in close collaboration with the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat to ensure that the deliberations of Member States were thoroughly informed by solid evidence and the collective advice of the United Nations development system.
CEB: Conclusions 23.02.2017
In 2012, CEB, under the leadership of the Secretary-General, has made further progress in taking effective and coordinated action on a wide range of programmatic, management and operational issues in support of intergovernmental mandates to ensure that the United Nations system collaborates closely and effectively on issues of system-wide concern.

The UN system can only succeed in its mission to help countries implement the goals of the Millennium Declaration if its delivery of services at the country level is well managed, using all its resources and expertise.
Recognizing the need to build on progress underway to ensure a coherent, effective response to country needs, the CEB held a one-day retreat in October 2004, to consider further steps needed to maximize the collective impact and involvement of the UN system as a whole.
