At its 18th session (17-18 September 2009) HLCP reviewed progress made under the decentralized leadership of the JCIs on the basis of progress reports and JCI templates by the lead agencies.
To support the operationalization of the JCIs at country level, UNDG further developed a Joint Crisis Initiatives Resources Guide which summarized the support available to UN Country Teams to draw on under each of the nine initiatives. The nine initiatives were decentralized to activities at the country level, coordinated through the lead and cooperating agencies. The resources guide, which was circulated to Resident Coordinators on 8 December 2009, provided an overview of each initiative and exemplified the type of support and resources available at the global, regional and country levels.
The resources guide also includes contact information to the overall focal points of each initiative. CEB , through the collaborative efforts of HLCP and UNDG, continue to review progress and address emerging issues as this process goes forward. The quick handover of the Initiatives from the strategic programme level to implementation in operational activities serves as an example of the enhanced synergies between the High-level Committee on Programmes and the United Nations Development Group.
This note consolidates the support offered by the UN system under each of the nine Joint Crisis Initiatives, proposed by HLCP and endorsed by CEB on 5 April 2009, and provides contact details of focal points making the available resources easily accessible for UNCTs.
