UN Innovation Toolkit

Launched in November 2019, the UN Innovation Toolkit provides leading practices and guidance for reference by UN entities as they build capabilities to promote innovation, active innovation partnerships, and create a culture of innovation. It responds to CEB's 2018 call to integrate and mainstream innovation across the UN system and supports the Secretary-General's vision for a UN 2.0 - a more modern UN empowered by cutting-edge skills fit for the twenty-first century.

Comprising a diagnostic assessment and thematic modules on innovation strategy, partnerships, architecture, culture and evaluation, the Toolkit was developed with the support of the CEB Secretariat in close collaboration with the UN System Staff College (UNSSC), UN Innovation Network, and other partners.

The toolkit's content is fully informed by both United Nations experiences and leading global practice on innovation, and was tested and validated by practitioners from across the system. The toolkit is highlighted in the UN 2.0 policy brief as a resource to support UN system entities designing strategies and plans to foster change. The toolkit has been entrusted to UNSSC to ensure system-wide dissemination and integration into relevant capacity building and innovation efforts
