The annual statistical report on United Nations procurement (ASR) provides an overview of procurement in the UN system in support of its operations, projects and programmes. Procurement includes all acquisition through purchase or lease of real property, goods or other products (including intellectual property), works or services, as defined by the UN procurement practitioner’s handbook. The report provides a range of information about the categories of goods and services procured by the UN system, as well as the countries from which these goods and services were procured.

Every year the CEB Secretariat collects HR data from member organizations and publishes statistics. Reports detail staff demographics such as staff grade, nationality, location, gender and age. Efforts to address climate change need to be vastly scaled up, UN leaders told participants at the Warsaw Climate Conference today, and promised that UN agencies would ratchet up their work to help reduce emissions and guide adaptation efforts.
The global discourse on migration has shifted significantly in recent years with the increase in knowledge and awareness about the multifaceted nature of human mobility and its potential to benefit development at the human, social and economic levels.
International migration is as old as human history and continues to define and reshape nations, cultures and the day-to-day life of many millions of people. It would be wrong to assert that its impact has always been benign, particularly for indigenous populations, but today it is also increasingly evident that migration consistently benefits countries of destination and origin, as well as migrants themselves.
The results of the survey identified young people’s development priorities and confirmed many of the approaches adopted by the UN system to promote youth development. The survey results served as input to develop the System‐wide Action Plan on Youth.
The World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY) provides a policy framework and practical guidelines for national action and international support to improve the situation of young people. It contains proposals for action, aiming at fostering conditions and mechanisms to promote improved well-being and livelihoods among young people.
ACC notes the progress made in strengthening the role of the United Nations system in providing support to national efforts of recipient countries through more effective development cooperation, greater efficiency and impact.
The final Summit outcome document provided a renewed global endorsement of the Millennium Development Goals, and built on the major international agreements of recent years to consolidate a practical plan of action. Crucially, leaders agreed that every country would adopt and implement comprehensive national development strategies to achieve the internationally agreed development goals and objectives, including the Millennium Development Goals by 2006.

Hunger is on the increase across the developing world with tens of millions more people facing food insecurity and malnutrition. The economic downturn is exacerbating the impact of the food crisis, which brought the total number of hungry close to one billion - one in six persons - and with a child dying of hunger every six seconds. Food prices remain volatile and may spike again as droughts and floods and climate-related events affect harvests.
At the 13th session of the Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC in Bali, Indonesia, we met to initiate an ambitious new phase of international cooperation on climate change in the light of compelling scientific evidence. At that time, I spoke of climate change as the “defining challenge of our time”.
Under the leadership of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) has initiated a process of aligning its strengths to achieve a coordinated action-oriented approach to the global and multifaceted challenge of climate change. This document brings together information on activities undertaken throughout the United Nations system, including its agencies, funds and programmes, as contributed by the respective entities.
CEB’s contribution to the preparatory process of the 2005 World Summit culminated in the publication of "One United Nations: Catalyst for Progress and Change — How the Millennium Declaration is Changing the Way the United Nations System Works", which was launched at the July 2005 session of the Economic and Social Council and was commended by the President of the Economic and Social Council to the Summit.

The High-Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development took place on 3 and 4 October 2013 in New York at United Nations Headquarters. In its resolution 63/225 of 19 December 2008, the General Assembly decided to devote a high-level dialogue to international migration and development during its sixty-eighth session in 2013.
The United Nations has long recognized that the imagination, ideals and energies of young women and men are vital for the continuing development of the societies in which they live. The Member States of the UN acknowledged this in 1965 when they endorsed the "Declaration on the Promotion among Youth of the Ideals of Peace, Mutual Respect and Understanding between Peoples".
The Office of the United Nations Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth was created for the first time by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon who nominated Mr. Ahmad Alhendawi of Jordan as the first ever Envoy on Youth, on 17th of January 2013.
The United Nations is in the process of preparing its 2013 World Youth Report (WYR) on Youth Migration and Development. The Report will offer a multidimensional account and/or perspective of the life experiences of young migrants and young people affected by migration.
On 30 May 2013, the Secretary-General received a landmark report from the High-level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, a 27-member group of eminent persons established a year earlier to provide recommendations on advancing the development framework beyond the target date for the UN’s Millennium Development Goals.

During this segment to be held from 18 – 25 July, the Council will review reports of its subsidiary bodies and of other UN entities working in the economic and social fields. The subsidiary bodies include the Counci's functional commissions, regional commissions, expert and ad hoc bodies. The Segment will also consider the report of its NGO Committee.

Since the landmark General Assembly resolution 46/182, the international humanitarian system has grown and evolved tremendously. The humanitarian caseload has increased due to new and protracted complex emergencies and conflict, natural disasters occur with more frequency and intensity, and global challenges increase vulnerability and create new or exacerbate existing humanitarian needs. In addition, the operating environment for humanitarian actors has also become increasingly complex.
The OpenGeoportal was collaboratively developed as an open source, federated web application to discover, preview, and retrieve geospatial data from different repositories. Several of the country's leading universities and a state agency have formed a partnership to make thousands of geospatial data layers available through a single, open source interface. The application also incorporates some new innovative search techniques. Partners include Tufts, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, MassGIS, Stanford and UC Berkeley.

United Nations Service Trade Statistics Database
The ESCAP online database includes country-level data related to demography, migration, education, health, poverty, gender, employment, economy, government finance, employment, transport, and environment. The comparability of indicators across countries and over time is maximized by limiting the data to a single source per indicator and by using well-recognized international data sources. The database also includes aggregate data for the world, major geographic regions, ESCAP subregions, income groupings of ESCAP members, ESCAP LDC countries and ESCAP LLDC countries.
The United Nations Demographic Yearbook collects, compiles and disseminates official statistics on a wide range of topics. Data have been collected from national statistical authorities since 1948 through a set of questionnaires dispatched annually by the United Nations Statistics Division to over 230 national statistical offices.
The United Nations Statistics Division, in its mission to promote the development of national statistical systems, has developed a central repository of country profiles of statistical systems. The country profiles include, among others, a brief history of the country's statistical system, legal basis, the statistical programme and much more.

The Yearbook is the principal reference work on the United Nations and provides a detailed overview of the Organization's concerns and activities. This database contains links to declarations, conventions and other instruments (see definition of terms), the text of which appear in resolutions of the General Assembly or their annexes. Instruments that have not been submitted for adoption by the General Assembly, i.e. Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, are not included.

The coverage of UNBISnet is from 1979 onward, however, older documents are being added to the catalogue on a regular basis as a result of retrospective conversion.
ODS covers all types of official United Nations documentation, beginning in 1993. Older UN documents are, however, added to the system on a daily basis. Malta was first to raise the question of Ageing as a matter of international concern at the United Nations in 1968. Eventually in 1979 the General Assembly agreed to call a World Assembly on Aging in 1982. In its Resolution 37/51 it recommended inter-alia the promotion of training and research, as well as the exchange of information and knowledge in order to provide an international basis for social policies and action. The MDG Gap Task Force Report 2012 report finds that the protracted global economic crisis has begun to take its toll on international development cooperation. With a $167 billion gap between actual aid disbursements and the amounts committed, the volume of official development assistance (ODA) should more than double in order to meet the UN target. It brings UN statistical databases within easy reach of users through a single entry point. Users can now search and download a variety of statistical resources of the UN system.
The Secretary-General established a High-Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing on 12 February 2010 for a duration of 10 months. The Group studied potential sources of revenue to enable achievement of the level of climate change financing that was promised during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.
The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), also known as the "Earth Summit," was held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 3-14 June 1992. The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS) was established in 1975 by several UN agencies to serve as a UN System-civil society interface. The UNSPN was set up in 2007 as an informal network of strategic planning and results-based management practitioners across the UN System. The group has held 10 annual meetings since. It is composed by more than 230 members (of which 56% of women) from about 45 organizations.
